Jewellery care
Medical steel and medical gold with real gold, platinum or rhodium plating are made to be worn. A few simple habits will keep their shine for years.
Jewellery every day
The plating lasts longest if the jewellery is the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.
- Put on last, take off first. Put on your jewellery after perfume, cream and hairspray — and take it off before a shower, a swim, sleep or sport.
- Protect it from chemicals. Perfume, chlorine, salt water, sweat and household chemicals wear down the plating fastest.
- Be gentle with your hands. Take off rings before washing dishes, gardening and lifting heavy things — that is where knocks and chemicals do the most harm.
Do
- Put on your jewellery last, when everything else is ready
- After wearing, wipe with a soft cloth
- Store each piece separately in a dry place
Avoid
- Perfume, creams and hairspray on the metal
- Shower, swimming pool, sea and sauna
- Abrasive products and harsh chemicals
Gentle cleaning at home
Two minutes bring back the shine. The plating is delicate — clean by hand only, gently.
- Prepare a mild bath. Lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap.
- Rinse briefly. A few seconds in the water — long soaking is not needed.
- Dry completely. Press lightly with a soft, lint-free cloth — do not rub.
- Let it dry. Before the piece goes back into its box, let it dry completely.
Please don't
Avoid abrasive polishing products, harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners — they can damage the plating. A soft cloth and lukewarm water are enough.
Storage between wears
- A place for each piece. Store each piece in a separate pouch or box so they do not scratch each other.
- Dry and shaded. Keep jewellery away from moisture and direct sunlight — the bathroom is not a suitable place.
- Clasps closed. Close chain clasps before storing — that way they will not tangle.
