Valentine's Day jewellery: gift ideas for her and for him

Valentine's Day falls on 14 February — in 2027 it is a Sunday — and jewellery is one of the few presents that outlasts the evening. Getting the size and fit right

Size is the easiest thing to get wrong, so check first:

• Necklaces. 45 cm is the most versatile pendant length: it sits just below the collarbone and works with a shirt or a dress. A 40 cm chain sits closer to the neck; 50 cm and longer falls lower.
